Cody is responsible for investor relations, asset management, and property operations, including our vertically integrated property management. He is an entrepreneur and investor. He has a decade of experience building, operating, and leading companies and real estate projects. His focus for the past several years has been in housing. He previously built a software firm from 0 to 70 employees and sits on the board of 3 midsized businesses. He’s a founding Principal at Carbon. Furthermore, he’s the General Partner on multifamily and hospitality assets in Alabama, Georgia, and Florida.
Michael is responsible for investment feasibility assessments, due diligence review, capital market activities, and closing for acquisitions/dispositions. Michael lives in Boulder, CO and has 10 years of professional experience at J.P. Morgan, Merrill Lynch and financial consulting for the largest Private Equity and Hedge Funds in the United States. He is a CFA and CAIA charter holder and owns commercial real estate assets in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and New Jersey, spanning multifamily, office, and retail. He is the Principal leading up Acquisitions and Finance at Carbon.
Tonaus is a 20-year veteran in property management and has led teams managing over 5000 multifamily units of which 97% were performing at their budgeted NOI and occupancy. Tonaus is a pragmatic operational leader and is passionate about fostering a fulfilling work environment for Carbon employees where they can achieve their personal and professional growth. Tonaus sits on the board of the National Apartment Association and is affiliated with the Institute of Real Estate Management. He's a Certified Property Manager, Accredited Residential Manager, and Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor and has an MBA from Louisiana State University.
